We have just started on the Flash training. We are being mentored/taught by Nick Butler, a Flash designer and developer from Bristol.

Nick has lots of experience with Flash, and has an impressive portfolio (you may even have played on of his games). With my previous experience with the package, I am picking things up well, and anything that does not work or I don't understand Nick can sort out and show me the way.

I hope to be posting some stuff on the testing server soon.

The S4C brief is now complete, and we have given our presentation.

I think that our implementation of the brief was good, and am pleased with the design of the front and back end. However I was disapointed that I failed to finish the CMS within the two weeks, although the presentation was (in my opinion) a success. Most was complete, but one or two things that I would have liked to iron out were still there at the end. But I was adding extra features to the design as the two weeks went by and I accidentally overwrote some important files on Thursday afternoon (!) so these may bw to blame.

The team at S4C looked impressed with the project, and we discussed the different ideas behind the design.

They also showed their work, what they had done and what they were working on then, and we disussed what we might be doing with them in January. They are leading the way with all their new sites being designed in CSS, and I am looking forward to working with them in the new year.

Overall I am happy with how things went, but an extra day or two would have been nice.

Having grasped the basics of ASP, we've now been given our brief from S4C:
S4C's Sgrin Magazine (aimed at ages 13-20ish) is published monthly to promote forthcoming programmes. The printed magazine is currently posted to people on the mailing list.

The magazine is now to be published mainly online and people will be notified of a new edition via emailflyers. Design and develop a magazine website that can easily be updated monthly. It must be visually interesting and stylish.
Me and Sioned are working on our version, with Sioned struggling through Photoshop and Dreamweaver and me struggling through ASP.

We have the look and feel of the site nearly finished, what's left is building the content manangement system in time.

Watch this space...

At the moment we're learning/struggling through ASP lessons with Steve Jones.

So far I have a contact form, a registration and log-in area, and a page to delete or edit registered users. Which I'm chuffed about.

I'm trying two different designs for the site, which would then be switchable to the user. This is taking longer than usual because IE won't render pages properly, so I have to use hacks to get it to work.

We're yet to receive our brief, but hopefully we'll have it by the end of the week.

Further exciting stuff: Gareth wants us to write, shoot and edit a short film and then put them on mobile phones. I'm like a kid in a toy shop!
